The Woodshop Ministry, led by our senior adults, has for many years produced hand-crafted, wooden toys for children, as well as fabricated and repaired furniture and fixtures for St. Luke’s. The ministry has outgrown its existing workshop building on Edloe Street, which is also in need of repair and reconfiguration to maintain code compliance.

  •  The Woodshop on Edloe Street will be rebuilt
  • Better, safer, more modern facility
  • Additional square footage to support potential future workforce training partnerships

It’s Not Just a Woodshop

When I think about the woodshop, it is so much more than toys and bookshelves made of wood. We share a common task; to delight children with what we produce, and that gives us purpose.

Our woodworkers are mostly retirees, some with lots of experience and some who are brand new to this work. You might be working next to a stranger who becomes an acquaintance. Before long, it’s like working next to your brother or sister. We welcome all to join this gathering of folks and when you do, you’ll become family. When one of the group experiences tragedy, we do what a family does. We show up with love and care for one another. As we’ve said before, we’re over here in the woodshop, living and loving like Jesus.
